Experience

  1. Astronomical research
    • Quasar spectroscopy at high resolution: planning and executing observations, data reduction and analysis;
    • Use of astronomical laser frequency combs for instrument calibration and characterisation;
    • Development of software tools for data analysis (science and calibration), also using Artificial Intelligence methods;
    • Measuring physical properties of astronomical objects from spectroscopic datasets and result interpretation;
    • Tools used:
      • python (expert), Fortran (intermediate), unix (intermediate), git (basic)
      • non-linear least squares minimisation, maximum likelihood, Gaussian Process, Monte Carlo, information criteria
  2. Management & Responsibility roles
    • Project management (both as team lead and team member);
    • Reviewer for astronomical journals;
    • Member of hiring committees for PhD and MSc students;
    • Organiser of scientific and public outreach events;
    • Liaison between management and employees, as well as between stakeholders in a private enterprise.

Communication

  • Author of 27 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Nature Astronomy, Science Advances, MNRAS, A&A, Universe;
  • Gave 12 talks at international conferences and institutes (of which 8 invited and one review talk);
  • Numerous other talks at Journal Clubs and other informal communication channels;
  • Gave 3 talks to the general public and participated in several other public outreach events;
